MANILA, Philippines - Maja Salvador would gladly say “Yes” when the man she loves gets down on one knee, flashes a ring in front of her and asks for her hand in marriage. But Maja is quick to add that that scenario will only happen in real life seven years from now.
Only 23, Maja knows getting married is a serious thing. It has to be planned and both parties should be ready to take full responsibilities as married couple. At the moment, she is enjoying the love and attention of her boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli who, she says, has the qualities of a man any girl is looking for.
“He is kind, sweet, thoughtful and handsome,” gushes Maja which prompted one writer to tell her not to let him go anymore. “Sana rin ’wag n’ya kong pakawalan,” laughs Maja.
What makes Maja fall in love every day with Matteo is his being sweet and thoughtful. Even if he’s busy taping for My Binondo Girl, Matteo still makes it a point to visit Maja wherever her location taping is.
“Either he finishes his work early or late, Matteo will visit me just to know if I’m okay. Kung malayo man ang location papabaunan n’ya ako ng food and we text each other.”
The past days, Maja shares, she and Matteo have seldom seen each other because of work. “Like me, I’ve been working for 12 days straight already — tapings, shooting for movie and pictorials. It’s good we will be working together in a movie, My Cactus Heart (under Star Cinema).”
Do they have terms of endearment for each other?
“Secret!” she replies but with a little prodding she reveals they call each other, “Baby,” “Honey” and “Love.” She adds, “But in my cellphone, ang name n’ya Matteo lang at ganun din s’ya Maja lang di gaya sa iba na iniiba.”
Asked to elaborate how she wanted her wedding to be seven years from now, Maja replies, “I want it a classic church wedding, puting-puti ang damit kong fresh na fresh and all my loved ones should be there to witness my wedding. Aside from my groom’s family, I come from a big clan so malaki din ang reception.”
Will she allow the public to witness the affair?
“I will let them know, siguro ’wag naman masyadong marami at s’yempre meron sigurong part na para sa lahat at meron din para sa amin lang. Ay, tsaka ano, matagal pa naman yun.”
For the meantime, Maja enjoys the experience of being a make-believe bride as she slips into wedding gown collection of Edd Sy. She is chosen by The Wedding Library, organizer of Weddings and Debuts 2012, to be one of the faces of the bridal fair that will be held on Feb. 17, 18 and 19 at the SM Megatrade Halls 1, 2 and 3. Kapuso stars Louise delos Reyes and Enzo Pineda represent the debutante category.
Together with Italian model and Douglas Quijano’s grandson Angelo Cacciatore, Maja displays the elegance and style of wedding collection of Edd, one of the major sponsors of the bridal and debut fair. His intricate, detailed designs have been modeled not only by his loyal clients but also celebrities. His collection was worn by Angel Locsin, Marian Rivera, Jennylyn Mercado, Mariel Rodriguez, Kristine Hermosa and Regine Velasquez.
The Weddings and Debuts 2012 is not only limited to wedding and debutante gown collections. The event organizer made sure that the bridal fair is a one-stop shop for wedding and debut needs. Various packages are being offered at the bridal fair — from gowns to jewelry to photo and video services to catering services. They even offer design materials for reception venues.
Other major sponsors are Juan Carlo The Caterer owned by Engr. Alex Michael del Rosario and wife Teresita Macatangay, AMI Jewels and Nice Print Photo of Charisse Tinio.
