Michael de Mesa returns for TV5's Valiente remake

Michael is back in the country to join the cast of the remake of the soap he topbilled two decades ago

MANILA, Philippines - TV5 brings back the successful soap first aired two decades ago, Valiente. It’s a captivating story that will put to test the value of friendship and love and will unravel a well-kept secret of two families, Braganza and Valiente. The drama is topbilled by respected actors and actresses in the country.

Michael de Mesa, who played the role of the original Valiente, returns to the country to do the project. The acclaimed actor left the country in 2009 and now works as a marketing personnel in the US. In October 2011, he received an offer to play a major role in the upcoming remake.

For being a part of the original cast, it has not been hard for him to say “Yes” to the project, except for one reservation. “It was hard kasi recession sa States, everybody values their job, so that was my fear na if I leave for a long time, baka mawala yung work ko dun... Then I spoke to my boss, good thing he understood naman. That was the sign na kapag pumayag siya then I’d really push through with TV5’s Valiente.”

He is currently taping with some of the cast members of Valiente such as Jaclyn Jose and Mark Gil. Also part of Valiente are JC de Vera, Oyo Boy Sotto, Gina Alajar and John Regala, with Joel Lamangan as director.

Meanwhile, Michael said he has already worked with Oyo, who stars as Theo Braganza, in a movie before. Before he left to spend the holidays in America with his wife, Michael also gave a piece of advice to JC, who plays the present-day Valiente. “What advice I give to the younger actors is to be serious with their craft and never stop learning and to always keep their feet on the ground,” he said.

Michael will be playing the role of Damian Valiente, a trusted worker in Hacienda Braganza who is Gardo’s (JC) father.
