MANILA, Philippines - CNCA Media Concepts, Inc. and Bluedream Entertainment kick off the new year with a big bang via the back-to-back concert featuring Taylor Dayne and Edwin McCain on Feb. 15, 2012 at the Waterfront Hotel Cebu, and Feb. 17 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
Local music fans will remember Taylor for her monster hits Tell It To My Heart (1987) and Love Will Lead You Back (1989). Her other songs include Prove Your Love, I’ll Always Love You, Don’t Rush Me, With Every Beat of My Heart, I’ll Be Your Shelter, Heart of Stone, Send Me a Lover, Naked Without You and Whatever You Want.
The New York-born artist’s three albums for Arista Records, Tell It To My Heart, Can’t Fight Fate and Soul Dancing, produced 12 Top 20 singles, among them the chart-topping Love Will Lead You Back. Over the course of her career, she has sold more than 75 million albums and singles worldwide, garnering three Grammy nominations along the way. She recently released her fifth studio album, Satisfied.
Did you know that Taylor also pursued an acting career? She made her debut in the Warren Beatty-produced 1994 remake of Love Affair, and also appeared in independent films such as Fool’s Paradise (1997), Stag (1997) and Jesus the Driver (2004). In 1997, Taylor was cast in the sci-fi TV series, Nightman. She also performed on Broadway in Elton John’s Aida in 2001.
Her songs have also been included in the soundtracks of the Robert de Niro film Flawless (the No. 1 Billboard Hot Dance Music smash Planet Love) and the multi-platinum Lizzy McGuire (Supermodel), among others.
She has also been enjoying her role as a proud mother to her twins.
For his part, Edwin is a platinum-plus recording artist and intrepid singer songwriter with the voice that launched a thousand weddings (courtesy of his Top 5 single I’ll Be and hits I Could Not Ask For More and Walk With You).
Since it first came out in 1998, I’ll Be has become a crowd favorite, and has been covered by local OPM artists such as Gary Valenciano, Kyla and Sam Milby, among others.
His other hit singles include Beautiful Life, Darwin’s Children, Walk With You, Some Kind of Wonderful, Solitude, I’ve Seen A Love, Gramercy Park Hotel, I Don’t Know How I Got By, I Can’t Get Next to You, Write Me A Song, Take Me, I Want It All and Say Anything.
Edwin’s songs combine a sort of working class ethos with the sort of big pop gusto that powered his hit I Could Not Ask For More, which was written by Top 40 hitmaker Dianne Warren.
