MANILA, Philippines - Some of the country’s celebrity dance icons added energy and enthusiasm to MOVE!, the biggest dance marathon and pneumonia prevention program, which was simultaneously held at the Makati City Hall Quadrangle and North Caloocan City Glorietta Stadium.
MOVE! is a collaborative campaign of the city government of Makati and Caloocan, the University of the Philippines, Manila-National Institutes of Health (NIH) and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to spread awareness and generate enthusiasm among the concerned public to advocate the prevention of the top killer disease.
Jhong Hilario, JayR, Bianca Lapus and Danica Sotto supported the fight against pneumonia by lending their talent in the Makati and Caloocan event, respectively.
Makati City got on their feet as Jhong showed his acrobatic stunts and awesome moves. His performance heated up the stage for the series of dance routines which shortly followed. Together with him was Bianca, who hosted the event.
Meanwhile, JayR drew in loud cheers from the Caloocan City crowd with his charismatic song number before leading the dance marathon. Joining him was Danica, who facilitated the event.
Participants in both cities eagerly followed the dance steps taught by the two star dancers. Everybody all got into the groove of the upbeat sound of The Time (Dirty Bit).
The highlight of the event was the turnover of pneumococcal vaccines by GSK to the city governments of Makati and Caloocan. Some kids under the age of five also had the privilege to be the first few who received the immunization.
It was, indeed, a very energetic morning that awakened everyone’s consciousness about pneumonia prevention.
