MANILA, Philippines - His name may not ring a bell yet. But Manu Respall hopes it will after the Tamawo episode of Regal Films’ Shake, Rattle & Roll 13 is shown in theaters nationwide starting Dec. 25.
Manu stars as the Tamawo itself, and is proud of how he gave the character a different flavor.
“Seventy percent of the Tamawo language came from me,” he said. “I’m fond of language. So when my director, Richard Somes asked me to create the Tamawo’s own language, I didn’t find it hard to do so.”
Unknown to many, Manu has been in showbiz for quite some time. He was nominated Best Supporting Actor at the Cinema One Originals Film Festival for the critically-acclaimed Yanggaw. He was also in Corazon (Star Cinema), Joel Lamangan’s Bugbog Sarado, Ato Bautista’s Carnivore and foreign films like The Dead Man’s Smile and Chasing Fire.
He shaved his head and gave up a fashion show appearance for the Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) episode titled as Switcher. Another MMK episode he did was The Mark Bautista Story. Manu also starred in Lamangan’s Sa Yo Lamang.
A product of theater, Manu has done productions for Dulaang UP, PETA and Dramatis Personae.
He has been hosting since 1995. He has hosted the Marlboro Tour, Nickelodeon (Asia) events and projects for Ayala Land, Wyeth Philippines and Makati Shangri-La.
The U.P. graduate of Industrial Design also starred in TV commercials (Oxygen, Cinderella, Mossimo, Buffalo Jeans, etc.). He directs stage plays, concerts, fashion shows and TV commercials, choreographs, dabbles in lighting and production design and designs accessories and furniture.
He is being managed by Bobby Nazareno.
