Ai-Ai on why women fall for Vic

MANILA, Philippines - Ai-Ai delas Alas explained why Vic Sotto appeals to the opposite sex, even to ladies a lot younger than him.

“Gentleman si Bossing, he offers seats. Napaka-cariñoso. He’s mysterious at nakakatuwa kasi si Bossing,” said Ai-Ai of Vic’s sex appeal, who’s also called Bossing in showbiz circles, in a presscon.

The two comedy icons have joined forces, combining their regular Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries into one this year with Enteng Ng Ina Mo, a co-production of M-Zet Productions and Star Cinema.

“Ang hirap i-explain pero ’pag ikaw ang babae, you’ll give in to his pakulo. If you’re a girl, you’ll really fall for him,” Ai-Ai added.

Asked if she entertained romantic notions while spending time on the set with Vic, the comedienne, who claimed she’s unattached, said with a laugh, “Wala ng pantasya. Respeto na lang ang natira.”

Is Ai-Ai actively looking for love? “Di ko siya mapagsabay (career and lovelife). Siguro di ako talagang marunong mag-commit,” she admitted.

What also keeps Ai-Ai busy these days is newly-adopted son, Seth. She dismissed rumors that Seth is the baby boy of her eldest, Sancho. “Sancho is binatang-binata. I’m actually ready to become a grandma if and when that happens,” said Ai-Ai, whose other children are Sean Nicolo and Sofia.

Meanwhile, Vic said he is very happy that his dream of working with Ai-Ai has finally come true. 

“Ang tagal namin ’tong pinaghandaan at binuo,” he said. He is confident that viewers will enjoy the film, which is a crossover sequel featuring the intertwining lives of Ina Montecillo, the central character of the comedy-drama Tanging Ina series and Enteng Kabisote of the fantasy-adventure MMFF regular of the same name.  

Vic said, “Kasama ko ang MMFF consistent top-grosser na si Ai-Ai delas Alas, and if you enjoyed the Tanging Ina series, and I think the enjoyment here will be doubled.”

For Ai-Ai’s part, she wished for the film to top this year’s MMFF box-office, more than getting another acting honor.

To recall, Ang Tanging Ina Ninyong Lahat (Last Na ‘To), last year’s installment of the series, was named MMFF Best Picture. The film also had Ai-Ai winning Best Actress trophies from different award-winning bodies, from MMFF, Philippine Movie Press Club Star Awards for Movies to FAMAS.

Vic said that the famous family of Enteng Kabisote will also be present in the movie, including his fairy-wife Faye. “That’s why the life of Enteng will get complicated. How the families (of Enteng and Ina) will find themselves together is something to watch out for.”

Meanwhile, Vic whose lovelife has had grabbed showbiz headlines was asked to comment on rumors linking him now to Eat, Bulaga! co-host Pauleen Luna, who’s reportedly 30 years his junior.

 “Si Pauleen Luna...” he paused, “has a very important — actually pivotal — cameo role in the movie.”

Directed by Tony Y. Reyes, Enteng Ng Ina Mo opens on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
