More gripping, spine-tingling SRR13

MANILA, Philippines - Regal Entertainment, Inc.’s Shake, Rattle & Roll 13 (SRR13) offers fresh, gripping and spine-tingling episodes.

New tales of horror and suspense await moviegoers as three directors take turns at making this year’s trilogy an unforgettable viewing experience.

Regal matriarch Lily Monteverde left no stone unturned to ensure that SRR13 only has the latest in state-of-the-art special effects, makeup, costumes and prosthetics.

First on the film’s long list of numerous demands was the construction of a huge swimming pool for the episode Rain, Rain, Go Away, starring Eugene Domingo, Jay Manalo and Edgar Allan Guzman and directed by Chris Martinez.

“Kakaiba naman ang role ko rito. Hindi ako magpapatawa pero mapi-feel mo ‘yung takot sa facial expression ng cast, ‘yung malakas na daloy ng tubig na pumatay sa mga characters,” says Eugene. “Eh, mas gusto ni direk Chris Martinez ‘yung live effects kaya ang daming underwater scenes at maging kami, ilang beses tinangay ng tubig, nasaktan at halos hindi na makahinga.”

For the second episode, Jerrold Tarog’s Parola, starring Kathryn Bernardo, Sam Concepcion, Dimples Romana, Louise de los Reyes, Julia Clarete, Ina Raymundo and Ara Mina, Regal Films constructed a 25-feet tall light house.

The production also required expensive prosthetics and state-of-the-art special effects for the battle scenes between witches and humans.

If moviegoers found Jerrold’s Aswang terrifying, they will like the way he meticulously handled the scenes and characters in Parola.

Meanwhile, production people created new monsters for the third episode, Tamawo of director Richard Sommes. It features Maricar Reyes, Zanjoe Marudo, Bugoy Cariño and Ervic Vijandre.

Regal Films also shelled out a hefty sum on the episode’s production design to ensure that each scene would send moviegoers screaming at the edge of their seats.

Budget-wise, the 2011 edition of SRR is proof of Lily and daughter Roselle Teo’s passion for producing top-rate horror movies.
