A peek into the lives of nuns
MANILA, Philippines - The world outside does not fascinate them. They seldom speak. They live a life totally dedicated to contemplation and devote moments in between prayers to work and study the Scriptures.
This is the monastic life of the Trappistine nuns in Polomolok, South Cotabato who come from different places and backgrounds but find meaning in the St. Benedict rule, Ora Et Labora, which is Latin for prayer and work.
Tonight on ABS-CBN’s Patrol ng Pilipino, Atom Araullo (photo) gets inside the doors of the Trappistine Monastery of Matutum and speaks with nuns whose spirituality is characterized by silence, solitude, continual prayer and living in a community.
The one-year old program is Golden Dove Awards’ Best Public Affairs Program. It was also given a special citation for Best News Magazine in the 33rd Catholic Mass Media Awards and was recently named nominee as Outstanding News Magazine Program in the 2011 Golden Screen TV Awards.
