Is love in the air for Sarah & Gerald?
MANILA, Philippines - Sarah Geronimo knows where DJ Heidee, her character in the latest Star Cinema-Viva Films offering titled Won’t Last A Day Without You, is coming from. She and her alter ego have experienced the joy and pain of falling in love. Both have charged it to experience. But they hope that the right Knight in Shining Armor will come along someday. After all, Sarah and DJ Heidee are like every woman who will not settle for less.
“Of course, I already surpassed the stage where there was a bit of bitterness and pain,” offers Sarah when asked about the affairs of her heart. “I totally moved on. I think every hurting person goes through that phase. (How did I handle it?) I prayed to God and poured out everything to Him. Having my family and friends around was a big help, too, (for me to recover).”
When pressed to give details of what she had gone through, Sarah said she was “nahihiya to divulge everything” and to share her true feelings.
Judging from the way she answered the questions from the press with her bubbly personality and signature laugh, one can say that Sarah has moved on — and has put everything behind her.
”Hers is much deeper,” says Sarah of DJ Heidee’s painful experience with love. “She had a five-year relationship with her boyfriend. That’s why I moved on (easily).”
Is Sarah ready to fall in love again with someone like Gerald Anderson, her Won’t Last A Day Without You co-star?
“He is good-looking,” she replies. “There’s more to him when I’ve begun to get to know him on the set. He has a good heart. He is warm to his supporters and appreciative of them. Ang lambing, lambing niya. These are my discoveries about Gerald. But we’re here to work. For the meantime, I won’t entertain (suitors or the idea of) ligaw-ligawan. I think Gerald is also focused on his work. I believe (love) will come at the right time. It’s something I pray about. And I don’t want to have a boyfriend just for the sake of having one. I always wish for a long-term relationship.”
Unlike Sarah, Gerald misses having a special someone.
“It’s been awhile since I had a girlfriend,” says Gerald. “I miss (sending and exchanging) text (messages) and yakap, yakap.”
Compared to their first team-up in Catch Me I’m In Love, Gerald and Sarah have more time to catch up with each other on the set this time around. Even their director Raz de la Torre can vouch for this as he sees the two talking in one corner in between takes. Doing Won’t Last A Day Without You is not just all work and no play with Gerald and Sarah.
“We have bonded,” shares Gerald. “We have talked about what we have gone through in life and our plans in the future. I tell her what’s going on in my life. We’re closer now.”
Gerald is aware that Sarah is not yet ready to enter another relationship. And he respects Sarah’s decision. Besides, Gerald doesn’t want to hurry things up. He finds Sarah “sweet and kind. She doesn’t believe she is beautiful when someone says so.” Like Sarah, Gerald will perhaps wait for the right time to fall in love.
The romance-comedy evolves around the lives of DJ Heidee and Andrew. She is a love guru-cum-disc jock who listens to every listener’s heart problem and shares her piece of mind. He, on the other hand, is a playboy who simply collects women but never selects. What will happen when their paths cross? Will there be an instant connection — and love in the air?
Let’s just enjoy the onscreen chemistry between Sarah and Gerald. Who knows? The next time they pair again on the big screen, there will be that spark also off screen.
(Won’t Last A Day Without You will open Nov. 30 in theaters.)
