MANILA, Philippines - Charice (photo) was named 2011 Entertainer of the Year at the recent 24th Aliw Awards held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila on Nov. 8.
Elevated to the Hall of Fame were Roxanne Lapus, Marcelino “Nonoy” Libanan, Boy Abunda and the Halili Dance Company.
Lifetime Achievement awardees were Johnny Litton for Hosting, Fides Cuyugan Asencio for Opera, Maniya Barredo for Ballet, Joey “Pepe” Smith for Rock Music, Tony Mabesa for Theater and Nora Aunor for Singing and Acting.
Founded in 1976, the Aliw Awards Foundation, Inc. annually recognizes exemplary live performances in the Philippine performing industry.
