Maestro Ryan and 'a thousand voices' at Big Dome Nov. 19
MANILA, Philippines - The Maestro. The Disney legend. More than a thousand voices. A sixty-piece orchestra. Festive Christmas melodies.
All these magical elements will come together in a rare Christmas musical spectacular dubbed as ’Sang Libo’t Isang Tinig ng Pasko (The Araneta Christmas Special) tomorrow, Nov. 19 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Lea Salonga leads the formidable cast of performers and the powerful voices of the best award-winning choirs in the land in a Christmas special that features best-loved traditional Filipino Christmas carols. Viewers are certain to experience true Christmas joy and spirit through traditional classics such as Kampana ng Simbahan, Himig Pasko, Heto Na Naman ang Pasko, Noche Buena, Kumukuti-kutitap and many more. Apart from Disney legend Lea, Kapamilya artists KC Concepcion, Piolo Pascual, Ariel Rivera, Jed Madela, Angeline Quinto, Marcelito Pomoy along with JM Rodriguez and Rachelle Gerodias will perform the holiday-inspired musical numbers. Zaijan Jaranilla and Mutya will also have a special participation in the show. The special will be hosted by Miss Universe runners-up Venus Raj and Shamcey Supsup. Johnny Manahan directs.
’Sang Libo’t Isang Tinig ng Pasko is a dream come true on several levels. The project is a brainchild of Araneta Group vice chair Judy Araneta Roxas who chanced upon a television interview of Cayabyab articulating that his dream project is a concert at the Big Dome. Mrs. Roxas decided to fulfill that lifelong dream of Cayabyab. Mr. C as he is fondly called, decided to put the concept a level higher by inviting the “thousand and one voices” of several award-winning choirs of the Philippine Choral Directors Association comprising choirs of active PCDA members from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The sixty-piece Manila Symphony Orchestra composed of the best musicians of the land will accompany them.
