JM de Guzman: I'm ready for lead roles
MANILA, Philippines - JM De Guzman formally joins the roster of Kapamilya leading men as he topbills ABS-CBN’s newest afternoon drama Angelito: Batang Ama premiering today in Kapamilya Gold.
JM takes on his biggest role to date as young dad Angelito who will face the responsibilities and challenges of parenthood at an early age.
“What’s new and interesting about this show is that the perspective of the young father will be shown to the audience. Usually, the struggles of a young mother are being featured on programs or films so now it’s time for the viewers to open their minds and see the other side of this social issue,” said JM.
Joining JM in the cast of Angelito: Batang Ama are Charee Pineda, Kaye Abad, Tom Rodriguez, Ina Feleo, Matt Evans, Felix Roco, Sam Concepcion, Devon Seron, Jason Francisco, Carl John Barrameda, Kyra Custodio, Bianca Casado, Sue Anna Ramirez, Eliza Pineda, Mariel Pamintuan, Lemuel Pelayo, Benj de Guzman, Eslove Briones, Maichel Flores, Joshen Bernardo, and Bea Basa. Veteran actors Elizabeth Oropesa, Al Tantay and Snooky Serna also return to TV via this soap.
First seen in PHR presents Midnight Phantom, JM was given follow-up projects such as PHR presents Alyna and Martha Cecilia’s Kristine with his noticeable acting talent.
His name further created a mark when he was among the cast members of the hit romantic-comedy My Amnesia Girl starring John Lloyd Cruz and Toni Gonzaga. He was catapulted to movie stardom when Cinemalaya movie Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank, where he portrayed lead, raked earnings at the box-office and is now vying for a spot to be an official Oscar nominee.
Some may think JM’s rise to fame is quite fast compared to others but for the dramatic actor, it’s just about time that he gets this big break.
“I’ve been preparing myself to take on big projects like Angelito: Batang Ama. I stopped showbiz when I was young to study Theater Arts in the University of the Philippines where I learned more about the craft that I love. That is why I can say I am ready and I am equipped to face lead roles,” explained JM who used to be one of the Ang TV kids.
Aside from acting on TV, JM is also known as a theater actor and just recently, he was formally launched as a recording artist after releasing his self-titled album.
Don’t miss the premiere of Angelito Batang Ama at 3:30 p.m. after Helena’s Promise.
