Fangs and peaks in Born to be Wild

MANILA, Philippines - GMA 7’s Born to Be Wild takes on a new journey with the latest series about fangs and peaks beginning tonight.

There are 105 known species of frogs in the Philippines according to a study conducted by scientist Dr. Arvin Diesmos. Eighty percent of these frogs are endemic to the country or can be found nowhere else on earth. But there are certain species of frogs that inspire even more fascination, one of which is a frog…with fangs. 

It is still a mystery to local experts why these frogs have fangs. Even if their evolution is still under study, these frogs are already making the list of some of the scariest-looking creatures on earth. Kiko Rustia scours the mountains of Luzon and Mindanao for a face-to-face encounter with the fanged frogs.

Meanwhile, Romi Garduce is back to set another record. Previously, he climbed the highest mountain in the country, Mt. Apo, in less than 24 hours. This time, Romi aims to climb two mountain peaks in the Cordillera Region in half a day — Mt. Pulag and Mt. Tabayoc. Pulag and Tabayoc are training grounds for his seventh summit in Antarctica later this year.
