Mamma Mia! marks a decade in Broadway
MANILA, Philippines - Mamma Mia! recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in Broadway.
In honor of Mamma Mia!, the Empire State Building was lit up with the colors pink, white and blue. And at the performance night, New York’s Mayor Bloomberg presented its producer Judy Cramer with an official proclamation marking the occasion and declaring Oct. 18 as Mamma Mia! Day. The performance was also in aid of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). Mamma Mia! also became the 10th longest-running show in Broadway history, surpassing the record previously held by Miss Saigon.
Mamma Mia! is coming here to the Philippines come January 2012 to kick the year off. It will be presented in Manila by Infinity, powered by Smart and Citibank. The world’s No.1 musical is about real life and features a timeless soundtrack, hence, appealing to all ages and crossing national boundaries.
The storytelling magic of ABBA’s timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship. ABBA’s original music composers, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, helped in the development of Mamma Mia! from the very beginning using the band’s unforgettable hits like Dancing Queen, Take A Chance On Me and The Winner Takes It All, in the musical.
