Kids, dream big!

In its commitment to promote proper nourishment among Filipino children, Bear Brand continues its Laki sa Gatas program.

Parents are already aware of the importance of milk during the infant years. However, sometimes, as the baby grows up and adapts to a more complex diet, it’s easy to eventually overlook the importance of milk even at this stage. Bear Brand believes that the nourishment of children during their growing up years deserves special attention as well. As a child grows up, he becomes more active, and his nutritional needs increase as well, and milk can still fulfill many of these needs, as part of a complete and balanced diet. Of course, we can’t drink milk than just eat junk foods. As a child, we could only afford bananas.

Invited to deliver a talk, I shared my experiences with the children and parents who graced the event. 

I encouraged the children to, even at their young age, start dreaming of the future — to explore their interests and determine their goals. In fact, they were asked to creatively picture out their dreams and ambitions by drawing on them a piece of paper. They got to insert this in plastic tumblers which served as their keepsakes of the event. Hopefully, these will remind them to pursue their goals.

It was an event that celebrated children, but it also put importance on parents by having them around. It was the perfect time for them to see for themselves what their children aspire for. I hope this inspires them to support their children and provide their needs.

In rearing a child, parents are tasked to provide everything a child needs. Love is present in many forms. It’s not just food on the table. It also includes moral support, among many other things. Any child would be poised to achieve his dreams, if he had a strong support system. This holds true for me.

With this program, I hope we would be able to further reinforce traditional family values and strengthen the bond of parents and their children.
