Sef exceeds expectations

MANILA, Philippines - While strutting his way deep into the competition that was StarStruck V, Sef Cadayona, a talent of GMA Artist Center (GMAAC), is remembered to have excelled during the “dancing week,” as proven by the description that he gave his 100 percent while performing. Small wonder he fits being part of GMA 7’s first danserye Time of My Life.

In the ongoing series, which started airing last August on Kapuso network’s primetime block, Sef plays the character Harry, a member of the dance group Motion Masters featured in the program.

“All I want is to be part of projects that are great. I believe I’m in good hands with GMAAC,” he shared.

Perhaps the general public is more familiar with Sef as that guy in the popular ice cream TVC series wherein he realizes in funny sequences how “useless” his P20 is. In one remarkable version, he lined up with his 20 bucks for ticket entrance to a disco house, only to be asked by the bouncer to dance on spot with his flashlight serving as strobe light.

Sef wasn’t able to showcase his true dancing skills on the said funny TVC. But here in Time of My Life, his time has come. The danserye features Mark Herras (Patrick) and Kris Bernal (Shane) in separate lead roles. The plot centers on Shane’s quest “to fulfill her dream of becoming a real dancer.” Patrick, being the founder of Motion Masters group, is helping Shane achieve that. But another “shining armor,” Shane’s friend Jason (Rocco Nacino) is completing up the love triangle. 

After being booted out quite early in StarStruck V in 2009, showbiz observers found Sef’s star spectacular enough to be shining brighter than expected. At present, with Time Of My Life and Party Pilipinas where he regularly performs, Sef is virtually more visible than some of his contemporaries, able to showcase among televiewers his dancing expertise. He does hosting job in Startalk with Jan Manual and Chariz Solomon.

Last year, he portrayed a support role in Iluminaas Renato. He also lead-starred an episode of Maynila.

With most of the Time of My Life roster of actors being former StarStruck alumni, many of them Ultimate Survivors and runner-ups, Sef has proven once more he can do more than what his final ranking in the StarStruck batch implied.
