Drexler will glide his way to Phl for NBA Madness

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Filipino fans remember him most for being a part of the Houston Rockets who won an NBA championship back in 1995 or for being one of the best basketball players in terms of soaring through the air. Now, they will get the chance to see him in person.

Clyde Austine Drexler was nicknamed Glide from his days playing for the University of Houston and throughout his NBA career because of his speed and athleticism on the court. Outside the basketball arena, Drexler is one of the most amiable and easygoing NBA players.

Drexler was selected 14th overall in the 1983 NBA Draft by the Portland Trailblazers and he would stay with that team for more than 11 seasons. He helped Portland reach the NBA Finals twice the first of which was against the Detroit Pistons in 1990 and the second was against the Michael Jordan led Chicago Bulls in 1992.

The NBA legend will be gliding his way to the Philippines for NBA Madness, a five day event centered on bringing the NBA closer to fans. One lucky contestant will get the chance to play alongside the legend in the Clyde Drexler Challenge. He will also do a live annotation of one of his classic games at the Digital Theater at the SM Southmall on Oct. 1 and at SM Mall of Asia on Oct. 2.

Together with the dance teams from the Orlando Magic and Portland Trailblazers, Drexler will be visiting five schools in Manila starting today until Sept. 30.
