HYP reunited for a concert

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - ’90s trio the Hungry Young Poets (HYP) with original members Barbie Almalbis, Ricci Guranggo and Franklin Benitez will stage a comeback gig on Oct. 14 at the Mall of Asia concert grounds as part of a rock festival. HYP was one of the biggest alternative acts during the late ’90s giving you hits like Torpe, Firewoman and Tabing Ilog. HYP featured Barbie on guitars and vocals which then switched to Barbie’s Cradle. She eventually went solo and had just recently released her second solo album titled Goodbye My Shadow. Ricci on bass, eventually switched to Mojofly before becoming a master chef. Franklin on drums is now a pastor at the Christ The Living God Church. They will have a reunion gig on Sept. 26 at Route 196 and Sept. 27 at Saguijo. For details, log on to www.12stonerecords.com.
