The Closer starts new season on Diva Universal
MANILA, Philippines - Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Kyra Sedgwick (photo) is back on the case as womanly yet strong, innovative yet resolute CIA-trained deputy chief Brenda Leigh Johnson in The Closer, which airs a new season beginning Saturday, Sept. 3, at 8 p.m. on Diva Universal.
The Closer follows Brenda, a former Atlanta detective who heads the Major Crimes special unit of the LAPD. Her offbeat personality and tough-as-nails exterior combined with her knack for spotting clues and securing confessions make her a force to be reckoned with. Once on the case, you can count on Brenda to do whatever it takes to find out the truth, no matter the personal costs.
Together with her team of detectives, they crack sensitive, high-profile cases and put behind bars some of LA’s most brutal killers.
This season sees the unit take on a civil lawsuit, a major departmental reorganization, a new boss and an unexpected tragedy. Plus, Brenda’s career may now be on the line as a result of her frequently unconventional methods. Could this be the end of the Major Crimes unit?
Joining Sedgwick in The Closer is a cast that has garnered multiple Screen Actors Guild Award ensemble nominations. The series co-stars J.K. Simmons, Corey Reynolds, Robert Gossett, G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison and Jon Tenney.
