Why Lance is a double treat

As a performing artist, Lance Raymundo is a double treat. He is a versatile singer, and one of the most underrated actors. He may not be new in the entertainment business, but he always has a fresh and exciting approach to everything that he can offer the entertainment industry. And amidst the frenzy, he remains calm, patient and level-headed.

In 2008, Lance, who was then known as Rannie Raymundo’s younger brother who also sings, raised (plucked and unplucked) eyebrows when he decided to go into acting. Skeptics eventually acquiesced that Lance has indeed a remarkable talent in acting with the slew of challenging film roles entrusted to him by respected film directors such as Motorcycle by Jon Red, Nerseri by Vic Acedillo, The Forgotten War by Carlo Cruz, A Journey Home by Paul Soriano, among others.

The biggest revelation of all was when he bagged his first leading role in the independently produced film titled Fidel. The film was a bold and daring turn for Lance since it required him a controversial rape scene between men. Fidel is a brave story on the tragic, undocumented cases of male Overseas Filipino Workers sexually abused by their foreign employers — stories that rarely get reported in media but have actually been happening for years while buried in eerie silence. His intense performance and the film’s realistic depiction were equally well-received. Lance earned praises when the film had an international premiere in the L.A. Film Festival in 2009. Fidel was endorsed by the Overseas Workers Welfare Association (OWWA) for its thematic and narrative portrayal of the plight of OFWs who are struggling to work in foreign lands despite the frightening risks.

Fidel has been selected as one of the films to be exhibited at the first Pinoy Indie Film Festival in Vancouver, Canada this month. Incidentally, the director of the film, Mark Shandii Bacolod, is now Lance’s new manager. Lance has recently signed up an exclusive talent management contract under Bellhaus Entertainment, which is a family-owned company headed by TV and Music Video director Jeff Tan. Bacolod officially serves as the artist manager, while he moonlights as a film director and image/fashion stylist.

In 2010, award-winning director Mario O’Hara handpicked Lance for the role of General Emilio Aguinaldo in Cinemalaya 2010’s Ang Paglilitis Ni Andres Bonifacio. This feat has also given him more opportunities to appear regularly on TV shows and live performances here and abroad.

Lance’s good looks, fair skin and healthy lifestyle make him a choice endorser of wellness products and services. For Lance, products that he chooses to endorse must fully reflect his true self.

Although, Lance has made relatively successful scores in the movies, his true passion still lingers on creating and performing music. In fact, Bellhaus is producing his album, dubbed as Wolf Sound, an extensive pure collection of all-dance and club music. Kiko Salazar, who has also produced songs for Kyla and the up and rising all-girl group Pretty Young Thing, will be his record producer. Lance, who wrote the music and lyrics for the album, is in good musical collaboration with Salazar who has four Awit Awards nominations this year.

As part of the promotions, Lance will soon be collaborating with other talented performing artists such as PYT, Mocha Girls and international rappers. He is also signed up to some TV shows which will be announced very soon. Remember that Lance had significant performances on TV dramas like when he played the villainous Turko in ABS-CBN’s Pieta in 2008.

Lance Raymundo remains committed to his craft. And that’s admirable.
