DZXL launches new public service programs

MANILA, Philippines - DZXL 558 unveils its newest line-up of public service programs geared towards helping its listeners in Mega Manila and nearby provinces.

Under the station’s new campaign slogan Handang Tumulong Sa’Yo!, DZXL’s new four flagship programs are Unang Radyo Unang Balita, Bantay OFW, Ito Ang Batas and Alarma 558.

Unang Radyo Unang Balita at 4 to 6 a.m. from Mondays to Fridays features station manager Buddy Oberas and program director Weng dela Peña. The early morning program provides timely news updates, weather, traffic and other relevant information which affect the lives of its listeners.

Bantay OFW is hosted by Ople Labor Policy Center head, Undersecretary Susan “Toots” Ople and Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III. The program offers free consultation of OFW problems, repatriation of distressed overseas workers and job offers abroad. The show airs from 10 a.m. to 12 noon weekdays.

Ito Ang Batas is anchored by lawyer Aga Arellano who offers free legal assistance on air. Together with lawyer Shayn Ilano and Dean Sol, they give pieces of advice to people from all walks of life, Mondays to Fridays at 4 to 6 p.m.

Showbiz Power with Kuya Mar anchored by Mar de Guzman Cruz, on the other hand, airs Sundays at 6 p.m.

Alarma 558 is aired from 9 p.m. to 12 midnight and anchored by citizen journalist Tony Arevalo. The crime watch and emergency assistance program provides actual help to radio listeners during nighttime. They have ambulances and a network of barangay tanods ready to assist at any given time.

The launch of DZXL 558’s new programs on Aug. 28 coincides with RMN’s 59th anniversary. It continues the tradition of public service which was started by its founder Don Henry Canoy.

As part of the celebrations, DZXL 558 together with all 60 AM and FM RMN stations will hold a simultaneous public service expo with free medical, dental services, livelihood seminars, legal document processing and many more.

More barangay public service activities also lined up Metro Manila as DZXL 558 — Handang Tumulong Sa’Yo! strengthens its position as the No. 1 public service radio station.
