MANILA, Philippines - Beginning tomorrow, Aug. 29, GMA 7 blends drama and fantasy in its newest primetime offering titled Iglot. A story of how love transcends all boundaries, the program follows the mystical adventures of a fluffy, little creature named Iglot, and how it can touch and transform lives.
Iglot features a powerhouse cast of artists led by Claudine Barretto, Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin. Also starring are Celia Rodriguez, Sylvia Sanchez, Jaime Fabregas, Perla Bautista, Mel Martinez, Romnick Sarmenta, Luis Alandy, Pauleen Luna, Patrick Garcia, Lexi Fernandez, Hiro Magalona and Nicky Castro.
The Kapuso station is also proud to introduce another fresh and promising young talent, Milkcah Wynne Nacion. Despite not having any prior showbiz experience, Milkcah stood out among over a hundred auditionees, and landed the role of Ningning, Iglot’s trusted friend. From the staff and cast, everyone has good words for the child actress for her commendable talent and professionalism on the set of her first show.
All are excited to work together, and breathe life to the original fantasy-drama directed by Gil Tejada Jr., the director behind several successful Kapuso programs. His most recent works include Koreana and Nita Negrita.
The story of Iglot dates back to the period of Mulawins after Aviona dropped the last unggiko egg in a volcano. As the egg waits for this volcano to erupt, the life of its future caretaker in a different world also begins to take form.
Mariella (Claudine) is a kind woman with simple dreams in life. She wants nothing more than to marry her long-time boyfriend Anton (Marvin), and to start her own family. But her humble dreams are shattered when Mariella’s former boyfriend Juancho (Luis) returns to their hometown. Still in love with Mariella, Juancho uses his wealth and influence to break Mariella and Anton apart.
Knowing that Mariella’s best friend Ramona (Jolina) has feelings for Anton, Juancho manipulates Ramona, and makes it appear as though she is having an affair with the latter. Mariella, who was then already pregnant with Anton’s child, finds them in an uncompromising situation. Believing she was betrayed by her best friend and the man she loves, Mariella cuts ties with both of them and promises to raise her child all by herself.
