MANILA, Philippines - The Trust Bunong Braso Challenge is a nationwide arm-wrestling competition endorsed by Robin Padilla. It commenced in Taguig City in April and has ended with a bang with its championship round last Aug. 6 at Ever Gotesco Commonwealth.
Thirty-two challengers out of 256 qualified for the championship round. Las Piñas City contender Elmer Ordinado topped the lightweight division while Marciano “The Wrestler” Basas from Valenzuela City was the winner in the heavyweight division. Both men received P100,000 and the title Trust Bunong Braso king in their respective divisions.
Ordinado is an OFW who filed a leave of absence from his Saudi Arabia job to be able to attend the championship. On the other hand, Basas, who was only a second placer at the qualifying round in Valenzuela City, in his bid for the grand prize and the title, has worked his way to gain more pounds and more power. In the end, their efforts got rewarded.
Second and third placers in the lightweight divisions were Saad “Kanto Boy” Bucay of Las Piñas City and Roberto Puspos of Quezon City, respectively. While Cirilo “Big Man” Linihan of Quezon City and Mark Luis “Big Boss” Ben of Las Piñas City were second and third placers, respectively, in the heavyweight division.
Aside from the action-packed arm-wrestling bouts, the audience were treated to performances from Sexbomb Monique and her co-DJ on Energy FM Tikoy Chu. Special prizes were also raffled off with the help of DJ Marf of 99.5 RT and the Trust mascot, SuperTRUST.
The audience then roared with excitement when their “idol” Robin emerged onstage to give his support to the Bunong Braso challengers. Robin even sang an impromptu song, serenading a lucky lady from the audience. Together with Trust Quality Condoms representatives, Robin then awarded the winners of the competition.
The Trust Quality Condoms reps present were Gene Lester Resurreccion, division head; Emmanuel Alfonso III, product manager; Edwin Batalla, GMA field operations manager; and Donell Dangilan, key accounts manager.
