Enchanté at Enchanted Kingdom

The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines - Aside from exceptional rides, one-of-a-kind theme park attractions and exciting games, Enchanted Kingdom (EK) boasts of its world-class entertainment splendor, Enchanté.

The Enchanté musical series began in 2008 when Enchanted Kingdom launched Enchanté: Broadway, followed by the first Enchanté Christmas musical. According to Babic Faustino, head of EK’s creative division and proponent of Enchanté, the musical series is called as such because of the French word’s literal meaning, “pleased to meet you.”

“Enchanted Kingdom is always pleased to meet and greet its guests and to present them with something new,” she says. True enough, following the success of the first two Enchanté musicals, Enchanted Kingdom entertains its guests with a brand new musical every couple of months.

As the year began to set in, Enchanted Kingdom launched Enchanté Mulan¸which ran for the whole month of February. Young Mulan was trained by her father, General Fazhou to use a sword and ride a horse. When the war began and Mulan (played by Rita Iringan) was old enough, she dressed up as a man and joined the Chinese army in place of her father. At the camp, Mulan met Captain Li Shang (played by 100%’s Rex Flores) and their friendship blossomed into something deeper. Familiar songs like Reflection and The Corrs’ Breathless plus a moving duet of From This Moment by Rita and Rex struck a chord in the audience’s heart in the musical based on the Disney animated film of the same title.

After a two-month break, Enchanté staged Enchanté: Under The Sea for the second time (the first being in 2009) in May to June 2011. Back with fresh faces from the cast and a new set of costumes, Enchanté: Under The Sea had parkgoers running to the jam-packed Eldar’s Tent to be part of the new world. Based on another Disney animated film The Little Mermaid, Enchanté: Under The Sea tells of the adventures of young sea creatures as they journeyed to the human world, with the guidance of Mother Lode (played by Enchanted Kingdom COO Cynthia Mamon). In the musical, the sea creatures crossed paths with the humans and learned that they weren’t as different as they appeared to be. The show’s repertoire was packed with songs such as Part of Your World and Under The Sea as well as the cast’s own rendition of Barry Manilow’s One Voice, which had the crowd listening at the edge of their seats. Enchanté: Under The Sea truly left its guests with magical summer nights at Enchanted Kingdom.
