LVN had the brilliant idea in 1959 to team up two Tawag ng Tanghalan champions, Diomedes Maturan (1958) and Cenon Lagman (1959, the reigning singing champ).
Maturan has starred in another LVN movie, Private Maturan, while it was Lagman’s first, wherein he was given an ‘introducing’ billing.
Diomeng was identified with English ballads; his winning song was Rose Tattoo. Cenon sang exclusively Tagalog songs, the likes of Bakas ng Lumipas, Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin Ko, Kung Ikaw Ay Kapiling.
Top comedians and pretty leading ladies supported Maturan at Lagman. — RKC
