Manila, Philippines - Five years ago since the Philippines first joined World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) being held in Hollywood, California, our country has produced two senior grand champion performers of the world (Jed Madela, 2005, and Marielle Corpuz, 2010) and three junior grand champion performer awardees (Aria Clemente, 2007; Catherine Loria, 2008; and Rhap Salazar, 2009).
This year, WCOPA will send Glee Nette Gaddi, a 13-year-old, second year high school student of University of Sto. Tomas who will compete in five categories — vocal solo (Broadway, inspirational/gospel, contemporary, R&B/soul/jazz and classical) in Junior Division on July 14 to 24.
Glee Nette started singing at seven and since then she joined many singing contests and almost always winning.
She won the 2007 Korea Travel Fair Junior Best Solo Folklorist held in Seoul, 2009 Hannah Montana Search for Rock Sensation in Mall of Asia, first runner-up 2010 Storyland Idol and the 2011 Young Thomasian Idol Season 4 grand champion.
Glee Nette and other members of Philippine team will attend the opening ceremonies and will join the grand Parade of Nations to be held at the
Universal City Walk, Universal Studios on July 17. There are three rounds of eliminations that will start on July 18,while the grand finals, an event televised nationwide is on July 22. The awarding of medals and plaques is on July 23.
