Singles from their self-entitled debut album and two other albums have all secured top spots in international hit charts. A Beautiful Lie produced two Top 5 Modern Rock singles in “From Yesterday” and “The Kill.” “The Kill” set a record for the longest-running hit in the history of Modern Rock radio when it remained on the national airplay chart for more than 50 weeks following its No. 3 peak in 2006. To date, Thirty Seconds to Mars have released three studio albums – Thirty Seconds to Mars (2002); A Beautiful Lie (2005); This Is War (2009) and two extended plays – AOL Sessions Undercover (2007) and To the Edge of the Earth (2008).
Not limited to their music, they have been shown creative and artistic excellence in their videos. The video for A Beautiful Lie’s title track and fourth single took the band 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle. “From Yesterday” was the first American music video ever shot in the People’s Republic of China while “Kings and Queens” was MTV Video Music Award’s ‘Best Rock Video’ for 2010. The band’s multi-awarded music videos are also short films directed by main songwriter and actor Jared Leto under the pseudonym Bartholomew Cubbins.
The band hailing from Los Angeles have played nearly 500 sold out shows around the globe since 2005, including festival performances at Lollapalooza in the U.S., Pinkpop in the Netherlands, Download and Give It a Name Festivals in the U.K., Germany’s Rock Am Ring/Rock Im Park and Japan’s Summer Sonic. This time, fans in Manila will get to experience genuine rock with Thirty Seconds to Mars’ greatest hits which include crowd’s favorites such as “Hurricane” and “Closer to the Edge.” The Mars Army will unite at Trinoma, Mindanao Open Parking on July 29, 2011.
