MANILA, Philippines - Disney Junior, a new channel brand devoted to children ages two to seven and their families, will launch in the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia on July 11. It was recently announced by Laura Wendt, VP and managing director of Disney Channels Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and Korea. Replacing the Playhouse Disney brand, Disney Junior will invite parents and caregivers to join their preschoolers in the Disney experience of magical, musical and heartfelt stories and characters, both classic and new, while incorporating specific learning and developmental themes.
“Disney Junior will feature the hallmarks of the Disney brand: Story and character. We’ll take classic Disney characters, beloved through generations and bring them to life on TV with elements that encourage early childhood learning, wrapped in strong emotionally connected storytelling,” said Wendt. “Parents will delight in seeing their preschoolers engaged and uplifted in a channel they can trust to provide age-appropriate entertainment.”
Disney Junior will be available in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Korea and Papua New Guinea.
Premiering in conjunction with Disney Junior is the new animated series, Jake and the Never Land Pirates, an interactive treasure hunt that follows the adventures of classic characters Captain Hook and Smee, along with a new crew of kid pirates led by the enthusiastic and courageous Jake.
