Angelica: I'm misunderstood
Donning a green Rhett Eala ensemble, Angelica Panganiban was every inch a glowing goddess as she sashayed onstage during her presentation as Pond’s White Beauty Naturals endorser.
Calling her a garden nymph was an understatement. Hands down, Angelica was a natural beauty with no traces of worry over the recent issue involving her, boyfriend Derek Ramsay and fellow Star Magic talent Erich Gonzales.
“Everything’s fine,” offers Angelica. “I think people just misunderstood us. That’s how I answer (and handle) questions. There are people who will never ever understand me; there are also those I cannot please.”
That’s also perhaps her other beauty secret: Not to dwell on the negative or mind people who have nothing good to say about her.
According to Angelica, it seems that there’s a new intrigue or issue about her cropping up each week. But being in the business for two decades after starting out as a child star, Angelica has learned to shrug issues off.
“Natural,” describes Angelica of her beauty. “Wearing makeup every day is part of our job. So, I try not to wear any on my free day as much as possible. The skin needs to relax and to breathe. Right after a shoot or any work, I wash my face and moisturize it. Your face is the first thing people notice or see. That’s why it should be fair and clear — no blemishes. I want people to see me with no makeup on.”
The new Pond’s product line cleanses the skin and improves its tone and removes marks and imperfections.
Asked about Derek’s reaction on her pinkish white skin, Angelica replies, “He says it’s soft and beautiful. He likes my skin and can’t believe that I have a soft skin similar to that of a baby.”
Below, Angelica shares her daily rituals and activities on and off cam.
6:30 a.m. — I prepare for around 30 minutes. I allot an hour for traveling from my house to the location shoot. I have already calculated how much time I’ll spend on a particular morning ritual or activity. I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years now. I know how my typical day begins and ends.
I’m not a breakfast person. Lunch is most important to me because it’s my first meal of the day. I want it heavy. I avoid rice (and pairing it with a viand). I prefer pasta, bread or sandwich.
8 a.m. — I’m on the set and ready to work. If the shoot will begin a little late or if there’s a delay, I have an on-and-off button for me to sleep or take a nap. (Waiting for work to resume) is not a problem with me.
For Banana Split, I tape every Thursday after lunch. By around 2 a.m. or 3 a.m., we’re done with work.
Weekends — I stay at home or I go to the spa for some pampering. I also go to Tagaytay. (What about my days spent with Derek?) It depends. I’m lucky if he doesn’t work on my free day. When we go out of town, we plan days or a week before. If our schedule doesn’t permit it, we would rather go malling and shopping instead. I accompany him in his activities for the day.
