MANILA, Philippines - SM Cinema, in partnership with Globe Telecom, is introducing the first mobile ticketing in the country or that will enable moviegoers to purchase tickets from the SM Cinema website, conveniently pay for it online using GCash and redeem it at the cinemas using a mobile phone.

To access SM Cinemobile just log on to www.smcinema.com, create an account, purchase tickets and choose the “Via GCash” payment option. Once payment has been made, an SMS notification containing the eTicket will be sent to the customer, which they can scan on bCode machines located at the cinema lobbies to instantly print the movie ticket.

Moviegoers are assured of a safe and easy transaction, as the eTicket service is compatible with any mobile phone, securely reading and authenticating the SMS-based encrypted codes from the handset screen using the interactive 3G-enabled scanning terminals. SM Cinemobile is also available for IMAX Theaters and SM Digital Theaters.

If the moviegoers want to treat their loved ones to a movie, all they have to do is send the SMS notification containing the eTicket to their relatives or friends so that they may claim and use the tickets for themselves.

SM is the largest cinema exhibitor in the country today, currently operating 226 cinemas in 39 SM malls nationwide.

In addition, until June 30, Globe is giving free GCash Cards to subscribers who will buy SM Cinema tickets online using GCash. GCash Card is the first fully customizable ATM card linked to a mobile wallet in the country, giving its subscribers 24/7 access to GCash. The ATM card allows users to withdraw funds in their GCash wallets via any of the 9,000 Bancnet, Megalink, and ExpressNet ATMs nationwide.

Globe and TM subscribers can avail of the service through a one-time registration process via the GCash Menu in their SIMs.  It provides the user with a guided experience without having to memorize key words.  Subscribers may simply drop by at any GCash outlet and Bancnet ATMs nationwide or via BPI Express Mobile to load GCash into their wallets. Once loaded with GCash, subscribers may now fully enjoy sending money, buying load, paying bills, online shopping among other GCash services at convenience of their fingertips.
