Tanduay rocks Palawan, Marinduque & Masbate

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Tanduay Rhum First Five 2011 national tour simultaneously kicked off with fireworks, furious head-banging and feisty SRO crowds in Palawan, Marinduque and Masbate.

The Tanduay Rhum First Five has a powerhouse roster composed of Chicosci, Kamikazee, Sandwich, Parokya ni Edgar and Wolfgang. More than 50,000 screaming fans turned out at the Puerto Princesa football field besting last year’s record turn-out.

“The Tanduay Rhum First Five show in Palawan in 2010 was one of our biggest wins ever — and 2011 just got even better,” says Andres Co of Tanduay Distillers, Inc.

Cheering crowds also filled the Boac Grand Terminal in Marinduque and Masbate City’s Grand Stand. Long lines of fans snaked around each venue way past show time.

The next Tanduay national tour is on May 20 in Bulan, Sorsogon and May 21 in Legaspi City, Albay. Joining Tanduay Rhum on the massive 30-city tour that will criss cross the entire archipelago are sponsors No Fear apparel, Pony footwear, Cherry Mobile and Pulp Magazine.

“The 2010 tour was successful, we decided to expand it to 10 more cities from last year’s 20,” says Gladys Basinillo of MediaCom, chief architect of the Tanduay Rhum First Five tour. “The tour will also continue to bring in world-class sounds, lights, pyrotechnics, and the best in Filipino rock music.”

The Tanduay Rhum First Five national tour is the biggest, loudest and most successful musical road trip, featuring the country’s most iconic bands. “We carefully selected each band in the Tanduay Rhum First Five,” says Gladys.

“They must have that wow factor, that certain status and that charisma that will make a perfect match for the internationally-acclaimed Tanduay Rhum.”
