MANILA, Philippines - The ‘Million Man Run,’ Philippine Red Cross’ fund-raising national event set for Dec. 4 this year, was launched the other day at the Manila Polo Club in Forbes Park, Makati City, by PRC Chairman Richard J. Gordon (above, with PRC endorser Marian Rivera).
Also present was TV5 newscaster Paolo Bediones (top) who promised to join the fun run together with Marian (also shown at top photo, second from right), and the ‘Regal’ tandem of Mother Lily Monteverde (second from left) and daughter Roselle (rightmost) who are members of the PRC board of governors. Mother Lily said she would sponsor 1,000 fun-runners at P1,000 each (total of P1 million).
The United Nations has declared 2011 as the International Year of Volunteers. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are celebrating World Red Cross Day by promoting volunteerism with the theme ‘Find the Volunteer Inside You.’
‘We are inviting everybody to be a volunteer,’ said Chairman Gordon.
