MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Institute for the Deaf (PID), the pioneering and premier oral school for the deaf, in cooperation with Tahanang Walang Hagdanan, presents a dance concert titled Dance 2 Inspire on April 28, 7 p.m. at the Meralco Fitness Hall, Meralco Compound, Ortigas Ave., Pasig City.
Dance 2 Inspire promises to be a night of moving and inspiring dance performances from PID and Tahanang Walang Hagdanan. The show will also feature the first deaf ballerina, Denisse Limcuando, a recent graduate of PID, who is now a scholar of Ballet Manila (BM) under the tutelage of BM’s artistic director, Liza Macuja.
The show also features top ballroom champions performing world-class Latin and Standard show dances.
Artistic director of Dance 2 Inspire is renowned Latin dancesport champion, Genice Bong Marquez.
Proceeds of Dance 2 Inspire are intended solely to fund scholarships for the students of PID and for the daily sustenance and livelihood programs of Tahanang Walang Hagdanan.
Julie Esguerra, PID’s visionary, says PID is committed to building mutually enriching relationships with students and their families, faculty and staff, alumni, other schools and agencies concerned with the deaf, government, business and the world community.
Sitting at the helm of the foundation is its president, Cynthia Romero Mamon. “God has given us the gift of talent and when it comes to dancing. Dancing gives us a feeling of wellness as dancing creates harmony of mind, body and spirit. When we dance, we thank God not only for the talent but the faculties that God has given us and this has led our group to organize this fund raising show for the benefit of the Philippine Institute for the Deaf (PID) and the Tahanang Walang Hagdanan (TWH) as an act of gratitude for all the blessings. These performers, despite their physical handicap, inspire us not only to dance but to dance to live and enjoy life,” Mamon states.
Anna Marie Periquet, project chairman of Dance 2 Inspire says, “We hope that through this effort we are able to work with and tie together the resources of individual and institutional donors in providing access to education and livelihood for those who are physically challenged.”
Dance 2 Inspire is presented by Meralco, Enchanted Kingdom, Kamera World, Dance Vision and BMG (Bong Marquez Group). For ticket inquiries and reservations, call the Philippine Institute for the Deaf at 0927-2395841 or 0917-7981970.
