Williams & Leno on TALKtv

MANILA, Philippines -  It has been known by its name since 1970. Currently, weekday broadcasts are anchored by Brian Williams (right), and weekend editions of the show are anchored by Lester Holt. Brian, a frequent substitute anchor for Brokaw, became the newscast’s permanent anchor in 2004.

The program held onto the No. 1 ratings spot from Williams’ start in December 2004, averaging about 10 million viewers weekly, NBC Nightly News is the only evening newscast to increase its audience, and has now been America’s most watched evening newscast for over a decade.

According to Nielsen Media Research, NBC Nightly News averages a weekly audience of approximately 10 million viewers.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on the other hand, is an American late-night talk show.

 The fourth incarnation of the Tonight Show franchise made its debut in 1992 following Johnny Carson’s retirement as host of The Tonight Show. Leno’s incarnation of The Tonight Show followed the same basic format as that of his predecessors: An opening monologue followed by comedy routines, interviews and performances. Unlike Jack Paar or Johnny Carson, however, Leno only once utilized a guest host, preferring to host the series by himself.
