Model-actor Leo Rabago dies
MANILA, Philippines - Model-actor Leo Rabago (photo) died of colon cancer Thursday night at the charity ward of a Marikina hospital. According to couturier Rene Salud, it was Leo’s friends, led by 1984 Bb. Pilipinas Universe and Miss Universe fourth runner-up Desiree Verdadero (married to model-doctor Denden Abesamis), who took care of him until his dying days.
‘Leo’s adoptive parents are dead,’ said Rene. ‘He has his own children, some of them married, but they are abroad.’
He was in his late 40s. Leo was the first winner of the Bodyshot search in 1986 in which he beat Eric Quizon. The contest is a launching pad of actors, among them John Estrada.
‘He was a good man,’ added Rene. ‘He loved skating kaya his favorite hangout was the Ali Mall in Cubao, Quezon City, where he lived as a teenager.’
Leo was an A-list ramp and commercial model. He later ventured into showbiz and starred in sex flicks.
Venue of the wake and date of burial will be announced later, according to Rene.
