Curtain-raisers:
• During his term as Optical Media Board (OMB) chief from 2003 to 2009, Edu Manzano saw to it that entries in the yearly Metro Filmfest were not pirated. It’s a good example followed by his successor, Ronnie Ricketts.
• An award-winning sexy actress is happily single again. After more than six years of marriage to non-showbiz younger man (who runs a fitness clinic), she realized that the man was bored. “You are young and there’s so much ahead of you,” she consoled him. “I’m setting you free.” Her “healing touch” took effect. They parted as friends.
• Young lovers Raising Car and Car Raising spent overnight at the house of the actress’ cousin down south. They wanted to share a room but the cousin said no, “Igalang n’yo ang bahay namin.” Did they try to sneak into each other’s rooms in the dead of night? No way. The cousin activated the alarms, and reminded the couple to beware.

Remember what the song says? Yes, she wears my ring to show the world that she belongs to me.
Marian Rivera is wearing “a ring” which she tried to hide when I asked her and boyfriend Dingdong Dantes to pose for a photograph during Daisy Romualdez’s birthday dinner last Sunday, Feb. 6, at the Roma Café of the Manila Hotel. The same day, Eddie Gutierrez also celebrated his birthday with a family dinner.
Is it their “engagement” ring?
Marian and Dingdong were holding hands even as they shared dinner. When I told them that I was taking a picture, Marian quickly covered her right hand (where the ring was) with her left hand on which she wore an expensive watch. Asked about it, Marian gave no comment.
But no, they denied persistent rumors that they are getting married this year, contrary to what the manghuhula have been saying, basing their “prediction” on what they read in gossip columns and what they saw in showbiz talk shows.
How are they celebrating Valentine’s Day?
Maybe just at home since it’s “no vacancy” everywhere else (concert venues and motels/hotels, etc.).
Daisy’s other well-wishers included bosom buddies Amalia Fuentes, Gloria Romero (with grandson Christopher Gutierrez), and Barbara Perez and Robert Arevalo; “Miss Josephine,” San Juan Rep. JV Ejercito, Ronald Constantino, Shirley Kuan, Raoul Tidalgo, and Pilita Corrales and Carmen Soriano (who kept a safe distance from each other, making those around wonder why).
On hand to help Daisy entertain guests was her daughter Danita Paner.
Throughout the affair, Roma Café’s visually-challenged resident singer RJ entertained the guests non-stop with oldies-but-goodies love songs. Daisy’s discovery, Paula Bianca, dedicated a song to Daisy. Watch full video
