The slimmer Sharon Cuneta
A much slimmer, prettier Sharon Cuneta faced the press during her launch as the newest endorser of Marie France. Marie France is the secret to Sharon’s big and startling weight loss. Sharon used to be slim during her younger years. But several factors, she said, contributed to her weight gain. Crash dieting she said ruined her metabolism. She also realized that she was an emotional eater. Sharon wanted to be more “active” with her children. “My children, my work and my new baby were my motivations for wanting to lose excess pounds. When I spend time with my children I noticed I’d always say, ‘Stay here muna with me, let’s draw.’ ‘Pag medyo active it’s with my husband Kiko or the cousins. They run around. So let’s face it naman, before those days na 25 to 30 years old ako kaya ko naman makipaghabulan. Now that I’m in my 40s, it’s different. So it’s really my kids. I want to be active again for them.” Marie France records show that Sharon lost more than 20 lbs. and 24 inches all over.
Here’s part of the conversation I had with Sharon.
1. What brought about your weight gain?
“Babies and crash dieting all these years. Whenever I had a movie coming up, yon talagang starvation mode ako. Not starvation, pero I went on a quick loss diet several times, the rebound weight will be horrible.”
2. Did you go through emotional eating?
“Yeah. I hit my middle life crisis and I was too ashamed to talk about it.”
3. Was there a time when you would look at yourself in the mirror and you would say, why did I let myself go?
“Yes, several times. Gusto kong maging mother. I love being a mother pero ayoko ng mother roles. And I still want to do love stories.”
4. How did you manage the nasty comments behind your back?
“It kinda got out of hand talaga. Inuunahan ko na yong tao. I would laugh with them instead of waiting for them to laugh at me. But that’s no excuse. After a while, you get tired of laughing at yourself and getting laughed at. And then finally, after years and years of the offer coming my way from Marie France, finally I said you know what, I can do it.”
5. Tell us about the story of the before and after photos of Marie France.
“I signed up with Marie France in the second quarter of last year. And then we started the treatments in July.”
6. Last year when you guested in The Buzz, we were saying pumapayat ka na. Ang dahilan pala noon Marie France.
“I said pa di ba, you will know soon. I have to stress though that this campaign, this Marie France was six years in the making.”
7. Why did it take six years?
“Because I have gone through an invasive procedure. I had a lipo. Parang after a while, it’s not a miracle cure. And then you start eating not thinking that you’re gonna put back all the weight on.”
8. Your children, what would they ask you? What would they say?
“In their eyes, I’m always perfect. Frankie would say, ‘Mama you can do it. You’re getting there.’ Miel will tell me, ‘Mama, you’re taba. Now Mama you’re more payat than last week.’”
9. How is Kiko reacting?
“He is enjoying my body. He is enjoying me. He is a user, using my body. Hahaha.”
10. Some people say your photos for Marie France have been edited.
“As God is my witness, none of the pictures have been retouched in a major way. Kung meron man siguro damit.”
11. You are caught in the middle of a controversy among Sarah Geronimo, Rayver Cruz and Cristine Reyes.
“I was doing my part as a friend to Sarah. I stood up for a friend. There’s nothing wrong with that. I just felt she got hurt and it wasn’t right that the people involved in causing her hurt were parang putting her down pa.”
12. Did you actually confront Cristine? Did you talk to Rayver?
“No, I haven’t seen her. Rayver, yes. You know I am a decent person. I don’t go up to someone. I don’t need to do that.”
13. Just to make things clear, what really happened?
“My intention was if I were to contribute anything, I want it to be that they knew I wanted them all to be okay. So I went up to him, sabi ko, Rayver, and you know, I have never talked to this boy, I said pa nga, anak, babae naman ’yong sa amin, I don’t know you but I love her, so ayusin mo naman, anak. Babae ’yong amin. Protektahan mo naman.”
14. So it ended there?
“Yes.”
