Chinese New Year at Winter Funland
MANILA, Philippines - Have you heard that for the Chinese who believe in feng shui, the symbol of love is the Mandarin duck? Known as yuan yuang, the Mandarin duck is said to be faithful to its partner. They usually have just one partner in life, and if they get separated from their partners, they die of loneliness.
That is why feng shui experts say the Mandarin duck is the cure for those who are not so lucky in love, those still looking for love, and even the married couples to make their love grow stronger.
Upon the advice of a known feng shui expert from Malaysia, a figure of two Mandarin ducks standing on a big heart, carved on ice was placed at Winter Funland, the only place where there is real snow every day at Star City. Their advice was for lovers or the loveless to have their pictures taken with the Mandarin duck, and place the picture in the south west part of their bedrooms. They will be lucky in love in the Year of the Metal Rabbit, 2011.
They have also placed a figure of the rabbit, holding the character that announces it is the rabbit year. All these were done in celebration of the Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day.
There is still the biggest man made ice slide in the whole of Asia, where everyone can skate and experience the thrill of ice sliding, and the experience of “real snow fall” every day of the year.
Winter Funland is open every day at four o’clock in the afternoon. It opens earlier on weekends at 2 p.m.
