Tall, handsome & articulate Dominic
Unlike many people who would move heaven and earth just to enter showbiz, Dominic Karl Roque wants to get his break through his own merits. He literally grew up in a showbiz environment. And when he was in his teens, he met Baron Geisler, Vhong Navarro, Smokey Manaloto, Jodi Santamaria, Kaye Abad, Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo. He remembers some of them telling him, “Ang cute, cute mo!” “Sometimes, I’d get a kiss from them,” he says.
But those were the days. Dominic is all grown-up at 20. And he is determined to make it in the entertainment business.
Still, Dominic refuses to use clout to make things easier for him.
“I don’t even ask my celebrity friends to introduce me to key people in the industry. If I get in, that’s great. If I don’t, then I have other plans,” he says.
Going by the looks department alone, Dominic would be a loss to showbiz if he isn’t even given the chance to shine. Tall, handsome and articulate, he has all the requisites to become tomorrow’s heartthrob.
Dominic is taking up Tourism, which he hopes would help fulfill his other dream; that of becoming a flight steward, seeing the world and, more importantly, meeting lots of interesting people.
An extrovert, Dominic loves “chilling out.”
“But not in bars or clubs,” he says. “A good gimik for me is defined by conversation — and great tea!”
Dominic was part of the cast of the ABS-CBN’s Habang May Buhay. Playing support on the soap has gotten him noticed and so more projects are in the works for him this year.
But if the hunky guy would have his way, he’d position himself as a dancer-actor ala Rayver Cruz and John Prats. Dominic loves music and moving to the beat. He claims to be a fan of most types of music even those from past eras such as the ‘80s.
Dominic is also into sports and nature. He goes to the gym sometimes though he’d choose a game of badminton over training with weights any day. He also gets into boxing as he loves the discipline that the sport instills its players.
During his free time, Dominic loves watching movies. He is biased towards action and romantic films such as One More Chance, 500 Days of Summer and Due Date.
And, yes, he has a girlfriend.
“And she supports my showbiz plans,” he shares, smiling. “She is also aware of the sacrifices we have to make if I make it in showbiz. She knows that once a celebrity, you become public property.”
Does he have skeletons in his closet? Some quirk the public might find out later?
“Only that all my rubber shoes must have at least a white stripe. My body seems to refuse stepping out into the street if my shoes don’t have white.”
That’s actually a cute way of putting it!
Kristine-Oyo wedding
Finally, Kristine Hermosa and Oyo Sotto were wed at an elegant Christian ceremony in Balai Isabel, Talisay Batangas last Jan. 12. The beautiful wedding was attended by the groom’s family as well as the bride’s who planed in from Canada. Also present were the couple’s friends, Ara Mina and Maricar de Mesa. Tony Tuviera, Johnny Manahan, Malou Choa-Fagar and Charo Santos-Concio stood as principal sponsors.
The beautiful bride wore a cobalt blue and pink gown designed by Edwin Tan. At the reception held at Balai Isabel, Kristine changed to a white gown made by Francis Libiran. Oyo and Kristine were a picture of happiness.
