Carmen and Lolita in Halik sa Lupa

Two of Sampaguita’s top drama actresses, Carmen Rosales and Lolita Rodriguez, engaged in an acting ‘duel’ in 1961’s Halik sa Lupa. The film has hyped, ‘All the excitement and tension of a suspenseful drama,’ provided by Carmen and Lolita.

Eddie Garcia, then the studio’s prime villain, played a ‘vile creature who kissed the earth from where he sprang.’

Cast in Halik sa Lupa are Tony Marzan, Jean Lopez, Lito Legaspi and Naty Santiago.

Carmen and Tony are dead. Lolita and Jean reside abroad, in California and Canada, respectively. Naty is retired from acting. Eddie and Lito are still very much around, mostly on television. — RKC
