Variety is the spice of Metro Manila Filmfest

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Variety is, indeed, the spice of the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival, with a galaxy of stars to boot. Starting Dec. 25, Filipino films take center stage in the 17 cities and towns of Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines, where the eight entries will be exhibited for two weeks.

Drama, action, comedy, fantasy, horror, thriller, adventure, animation, period. Name it and the Metro filmfest has got it.

Vic Sotto and Bong Revilla team up in Si Agimat at Si Enteng Kabisote, which is action-fantasy-adventure-comedy combined.

Dolphy wears the vestment of a priest in the heartwarming comedy Father Jejemon, which has a touch of drama.

Jennylyn Mercado goes back to the roaring ’20s in Rosario, the drama of a woman ahead of her time.

Ai-Ai de las Alas reprises a wacky role in Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin (Last Na ’To!).

Kris Aquino makes a memorable of scary visits in Dalaw, suspense-thriller.

Marian Rivera is superwoman with a funny bone in Super Inday and the Golden Bibe, co-starring John Lapus.

Shaina Magdayao, Andi Eigenmann and Carla Abellana star in the horror trilogy Shake, Rattle & Roll XII, the longest franchise here and anywhere else.

Zaijian “Santino” Jaranilla is the voice of RPG Metanoia.

The stars of all eight entries will participate in the grand parade on Dec. 24 at Quirino Grandstand, CCP Grounds, SMX parking lot and Malate Circle. Come Dec. 26, they will vie for the awards at the Meralco Theater.
