Pokwang is no swellhead

Last week on The Buzz, Pokwang was my guest in The Abunda Challenge. The super comedienne answered once and for all the intrigues currently being thrown at her. Some wags say Pokwang has gone swell headed. Others say she is a big departure from the Pokwang they knew some years ago and that she has become a chronic complainer.

“Hindi naman po kasi pagpasok (ko) sa pinto, nagkasya pa naman,” she said in jest. “Maybe I complain because I want the job done. Gusto ko lagi mabilis ‘yung trabaho, I want to go home early so that we can enjoy the company of our family at ma-enjoy natin ‘yung mga bahay na pinagpuyatan natin, at makasama natin ‘yung mga anak natin. But I don’t wreak havoc on the set. Nakikiusap ako nang maayos.”

Pokwang also denied that she is insecure of Vice Ganda. “I see no reason why I should be insecure of Vice. Siya po ay magandang binabae at ako’y mukhang binabae lang,” she said joking.

Of late Pokwang has been compared to another comedienne, K Brosas, her co-host in Pilipinas Win Na Win. She said she has no quarrel with K. Asked who is the better comedienne, Pokwang revealed, “Fans of K would say K is the better comedienne, while my followers would say, ako. But if you combine the two of us, ang dami naming mapapasaya.” She also kidded that she is better at making people laugh.

Pokwang is not daunted by the negative write-ups about her. “Maraming masasakit na intriga ang naisusulat sa akin. But I have more friends who love me and who make me laugh.”

Pokwang walked away when asked, who is the better comedienne between Ai-Ai de las Alas and Eugene Domingo. And she was not joking.

Kris, James now friends

Kris Aquino and James Yap are now friends and they are talking. James allowed himself to play body double to Diether Ocampo in Kris’ movie Dalaw while Diether was abroad. It was a delicate scene that required them to hug each other. No sparks flew according to Kris when they shot the scene. “We have moved on. Pareho kami.” She also is now using the bag that James once gave to her when they were still together.

“We are friends, but we’re not the best of friends. It’s a nice feeling. It hard for kids to grow up na hiwalay ang parents nila. At least Bimby will never have to feel that he can only love one parent. He will be free to love both of us and hopefully love James’ future partner and my future partner because there is no more anger in us.”

Kris rates in terms of progress of her relationship with James an eight in a scale of one to 10. “Kasi papunta kami doon sa okey na okey talaga. Pero mahirap with somebody as high profile as me to be totally okay. I don’t think he has 100 percent trust in me. Like if I tell him I know kung sino ang crush niya at sino ang gusto niyang ligawan, the next time we see each other, dine-deny niya dahil may takot siya na baka sabihin ko kung sino ang girl na yon.”

Kris admits that she and James had two years of joy, of a really good relationship while three years were spent trying to make the relationship work. “We are at the point na tanggap na namin na magkaibigan kami. We are both so in love with Bimby at lahat isasantabi mo para sa kanya.”

She also said that her scene with James in Dalaw was a turning point in the life of the character she portrayed in the movie. “Maybe si James ang gumawa because sa tooong buhay hindi ko nagawa. At sana nagawa.”

She also wished “naging mas maayos ang paggu-goodbye naming dalawa. Pero sa pag-arte, nagawa ko. Sa movie man lang nagawa namin… wala man siyang line… ako lang ‘yung salita nang salita nang salita.”

She also revealed that working with James was a breeze. James even joked, “O, magna-number one na ‘yung movie mo dahil nandiyan na ako.’ Sabi ko, ‘Wow, confident.’ Pero sabi ko, ‘Magdilang anghel ka talaga.’”

Kris knew that James acceded to being a double for Diether for her and Bimby’s sake. “He knew how important the movie is to me and for that grateful ako talaga.”
