New family sitcom airs on 2nd Avenue

MANILA, Philippines - Modern Family, 2nd Avenue’s newest critically acclaimed comedy and winner of the 2010 Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series looks to disprove the myth of what a family should look like. Modern Family airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on 2nd Avenue. Following three different families and their various approaches to parenting, everyday life seems more interesting when seen through the window into their sometimes warm, sometimes twisted embrace of what a modern family truly is.

Meet Phil and Claire Dunphy, as played by Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen, two parents who want to have an open, healthy relationship with their three children: hormonal teenager Haley (Sarah Hyland), know-it-all middle child Alex (Ariel Winter) and trouble maker son Luke (Nolan Gould). Phil who sees himself as a “cool dad” is constantly trying to find a way to bond with his children while his overprotective wife Claire is determined not to let her kids have the same rebellious childhood she had.

Speaking of her childhood, Claire’s dad Jay (Ed O’Neill), a divorcee, is now married to Gloria (Sofia Vergara), a passionate and much younger sassy Colombian that comes with an 11-year-old son, Manny (Rico Rodriguez II). Already at such a young age Manny is a hopeless romantic, and spends his time daydreaming and writing poetry. Jay, being the manly man that he is, isn’t too comfortable and tries to toughen him up. But this is not the only challenge Jay faces with his new family, his biggest problem is that people often mistake him as Gloria’s dad and not her husband.

Lastly there’s Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and his partner of five years Cameron (Eric Stonestreet). Mitchell, the son of Jay and brother of Claire has just recently taken the “next step” with his partner by adopting a child together from Vietnam. Cameron who at times carries a flare for the dramatic is balanced out by his partner Mitchell who is more serious, making the two the perfect match and the perfect spectacle.
