GMA board picks new prexy
MANILA, Philippines - The Board of Directors of GMA Network, Inc. has elected Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. as the Company’s new President and Chief Operating Officer during a meeting held recently at the Network’s headquarters in Quezon City.
With Duavit’s election as President, Atty. Felipe L. Gozon will remain GMA Network’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
Together with Gozon, Duavit is also credited for GMA Network’s phenomenal rise to the top as the broadcast industry’s leader in both TV ratings and profit. He has been at the forefront of the Company’s expansion projects.
Prior to his new post, Duavit was GMA Network’s Executive Vice President and COO since the year 2000. He is currently the Chairman of the Company’s Executive Committee and has been a member of GMA Network’s Board of Directors since 1999.
Duavit is the Chairman of the Board of GMA Network Films, Inc. and GMA Worldwide, Inc. and Vice Chairman of the Board of GMA Marketing and Productions, Inc. He also serves as President and CEO of GMA Holdings, Inc., Scenarios, Inc., RGMA Marketing and Productions, Inc., and Dual Management and Investments, Inc.
He is likewise the President and Director of Mediamerge Corp., Citynet Network Marketing and Productions, Inc. He is a Director of RGMA Network, Inc., GMA New Media, Inc., Alta Productions Group Inc., Optima Digital, Inc., and Monte-Aire Realty and Development Corp.
Duavit is the Executive Vice President and Director of Group Management and Development, Inc. He also serves as the President of the Board of Trustees of GMA Foundation, Inc. and as a Trustee of Guronasyon Foundation, Inc. (formerly LEAF).
Duavit holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from the University of the Philippines.
