Ako Para Sa Bata confab at SMX Dec. 2-4

MANILA, Philippines - Ako Para Sa Bata, the Manila conference on the emotional health of the child will be held on Dec. 2 to 4 at the SMX, Mall of Asia.

The conference is organized by the Child Protection Network in partnership with Philippine Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Philippine Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, Society of Adolescent Medicine of the Philippines and PsychConsult, and sponsored by UNICEF and Promina, with the help of PhilConstruct, World Vision, SMART and DZRJ 810 AM. It presents plenary sessions on what is emotional abuse; how violence/emotional abuse affects the development of a child; and; the impact of media images on children:

Simultaneous symposia over the two-day conference include sessions on bullying, pornography, cyber-violence; challenges of children of OFW families, among others. Invited speakers and resource persons include Grace Poe-Llamanzares (MTRCB chair); Dr. Honey Carandang (the foremost child psychologist in the country); Prof. Alberto Muyot (DepEd undersecretary); and Kara David (Peabody awardee).

Lunch and snacks are included in the P2,500 ticket price. SMX-MOA is sponsoring the social event that includes fireworks display. Participants will also have a chance to win raffle prizes such as cellphones and gift certificates.
