MANILA, Philippines - Ang Babae sa Sementeryo is no ordinary horror-suspense thriller. It tells a story of the ills of the society brought about by poverty, exploitation of women prostitution and the scarcity of education. Desecration of the dead is also tackled. A community where people believe supernatural beings like multo (ghost) can kill undesirable individuals any time of the day is disastrous to this remote area of the country.
Or can any devil-possessed person readily take away the life of another? Can supernatural beings kill?
The storyteller, Ariel Inton, is a former city councilor visited one wake to another every night. This nightly chore for nine years is part of his public service. That’s how he was able to conceive the story for which Buboy Tan provided the screenplay. Both have spent months choosing actors for the movies.
Boots Anson-Roa, Tommy Abuel, Roi Vinzon Roldan Aquino, Ma. Isabel Lopez, Ella Guevarra, Mon Confiado and the comebacking Isadora star in the movie. Buboy is 2008 Famas Best Screenplay writer for Ataul for Rent.
Two former matinee idols are staging a comeback in this first venture of AEI Movie Productions. Jigo Garcia and Brylle Mondejar also play paranormal experts in Ang Babae sa Sementeryo. Their search for truth about supernatural beings is devastating because the culprit they found out was beyond suspicion.
The suspense movie was entirely filmed at the San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan. Mayor Reynaldo San Pedro extended his support.
Ang Babae sa Sementeryo, opening today in theaters, is produced by Antonio “Ariel” Enrile-Inton Jr. with Exponential International Trading, Inc. owned by Ma. Gracia Lara.
