MANILA, Philippines - British metalcore band Asking Alexandria, hailing from Yorkshire, England, will perform at the Amoranto Theater, Quezon City on May 16, 2011 for a one-night only show. The quintet is a young breed of musicians who debuted sometime around 2008 to 2009. The members are part of the new wave of metal to introduce the mash genre — mix of heavy metal, techno, death, grind, hardcore and more. This market usually appeals to younger music fans.
Asking Alexandria actually originated in Asia. Guitarist Ben Bruce started the band in Dubai then moved back to England a few months after he formed the group. Leaving his former members behind, Ben decided to continue on with the name Asking Alexandria and recruited vocalist, Danny Worsnop, guitarist, Cameron Lidell, drummer James Casells and bassist Sam Betley.
Asking Alexandria did relentless touring in 2009 and 2010 along with bands like Attack Attack!, Alesana, The Bled, Breathe Carolina and I See Stars. The band has released its debut album in 2009 under Sumerian Records and peaked at No. 170 at the US Billboard 200 Countdown. Next year, the band will release another album called Reckless and Relentless schedule to come out on February next year.
Although the band is fairly new in the music industry, Asking Alexandria has garnered a large following through Myspace and Facebook, as well as other mediums in the Internet. This also explains the band’s large fan base in the Philippines in spite the lack of album distribution. As soon as the news that Asking Alexandria will come to the Philippines was made public, fans instantly showed excitement and great response. The show is presented by Pulp Unleashed, a brand from Pulp Live Productions featuring only the loudest international metal bands in the Philippines. Tickets to Pulp Unleashed: Asking Alexandria live in Manila are now on sale at P500 each and are available at all Ticketnet, Ticketworld, and SM Cinema outlets.
