For two weeks now, Willie Revillame has been on solo flight as host of TV5’s Willing Willie, perceived to be a much-improved version of his defunct ABS-CBN show Wowowee in which he had several lady co-hosts (Valerie Concepcion, Pokwang and Mariel Rodriguez among them).
But Willie won’t be lonesome for long. If the ongoing negotiations are finalized tonight, he’ll have a lone lady co-host effective tomorrow to keep him company Monday thru Friday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 5 to 7 p.m.
Funfare Update is not at liberty to reveal the identity of the lady co-host, but I’ll give you five clues:
1. She’s not a beauty queen,
2. She’s a controversial figure in her own right, having been linked to a VIP,
3. She’s active in politics,
4. She used to work in television, and
5. She’s “S”weet and “S”hy.
Oops! Sorry but I almost mentioned her initials.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s “revelation” --- that is, as I’ve said, if the final negotiations end up good.
Beauties in the ‘blind corner’
The beauty-contest season this year ends with tonight’s coronation of the 2010 Miss International in Sanya, China, where the Philippine bet Krista Kleiner is among the 68 (from the original 81) girls competing for the crown won four times by Filipinas.
A Funfare Update contributor has some juicy blind items about beauty queens, to wit:
= A former Miss Universe (from an Asian country) can “terrorize” her meek ex-husband especially when she sees him for money. In public, she’s dainty and demure but she turns into an irrational tigress when she nags her ex-husband who is now married to a Filipina beauty-titlist in her own right and living in the US East Coast.
= A former Miss International (the contributor doesn’t say from what continent) started to have doubts when her macho husband seemed to be spending more time with his equally good-looking bodyguard than with her. Did she confirm “something” that’s why they soon broke up?
= Two beauty queens are survivors of colorful love affairs and could write a book about the many men they’ve loved before. One (the world titlist) eventually ended up with a simple guy who’s the exact opposite of her past lovers while the other (local) titlist married a preacher.
= And what about the Miss U runner-up who was left depressed by her foreigner husband who, according to the contributor, “touched her not more than six times” during their three-year marriage?
Samar lass is one of TOSP
Congratulations to Nadia Bianca Nicolette L. Ong, my fellow Waray (from Laoang, Northern Samar), who is one of the 2010 Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP). Nadia is shown with Pres. Noynoy ‘P-Noy’ Aquino during the awarding ceremonies in Malacañang last Oct. 7. The daughter of former Northern Samar Rep. Jun Ong and Desiree Lim, Nadia was a consistent Dean’s Lister at De La Salle University where she graduated cum laude with degrees in B.S. Commerce and AB Communication Arts. Among other honors, Nadia was a recipient of the Gawad Mag-aaral 2009, the 2010 Most Outstanding Student in Discipline Leadership and Advocacy, and the Student Leadership Award during DLSU’s 158th Commencement Exercises.
Blairwitch Project on SOLARtv’s Big Ticket
Heather Donahue, Michael Williams and Joshua Leonard, student filmmakers, set out to shoot a documentary about a local legend, the Blair Witch.
In the forests near Burkittsville, Maryland, many children have vanished in the 1940s and people still avoid going too deep into the woods. So, the party sets out to look for facts that prove the legend, equipped only with two cameras and a little hiking gear.
First, they find little piles of stone that must have been arranged artificially. Later, they have to admit they got lost in the woods. Eerie sounds at night and more piles of stones in places where they have not been before cause the already desperate group to panic. And one night, days after they should have been back home, Josh disappears completely. Only what has been recorded and filmed with the cameras is found a year later and shows what happened in the woods.
Watch SOLARtv’s Big Ticket, Blairwitch Project, tonight at 9.
