MANILA, Philippines - The UE College of Law (UE CLaw) debating team braces itself for a big showdown against powerhouse UP-Diliman debating team in the ABS-CBN News Channel’s (ANC) Square Off: The CVC Law Debates which features debating teams from the country’s top law schools.
UE and UP will be the protagonists in the semifinals of the top-rating ANC TV debate show hosted by Twink Macaraig on Oct. 29, at 7 p.m.
Prior to qualifying in the semifinals as a “wild card” qualifier, the UE CLaw debating team — comprised by UE CLaw students Christian Tarce, Chrizellie Almendral, Arvi De Vera and Roselle Bariuan and UE CLaw faculty members, lawyers Victoria Loanzon and Dennis Pangan — defeated the San Beda College-Alabang team, as these UE Legal Warrior-Debaters took the negative side on the issue The Ombudsman Hon. Merceditas N. Gutierrez Shall Be Impeached on Aug. 13. They also outclassed the DLSU-FEU squad last month, taking again the opposing side on the topic The Appointment of Acting Secretaries Should Be Banned.
