Reaping the rewards of hard work

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Lovi Poe (photo) is reaping the rewards of her hard work. After winning the Best Actress award in the recent Cinemalaya Festival, Lovi is set to star in several high-profile projects. First of which is Topel Lee’s forthcoming horror film, White House. In the film, Lovi plays a reality-show contestant who joins a contest on who will survive in staying the night in the haunted Laperal Mansion in Baguio City. Lovi stars with Gabby Concepcion and Iza Calzado in the horror outing which will be shown in theaters on Oct. 20.

Lovi is also set to star in an afternoon soap Little Star in which she will star with Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Anthony Fernandez. Lovi is excited with her new role because she plays a famous, ambitious celebrity and model who rebels against her stage mother, and tries to seek for love and happiness, a real challenge, indeed. She is also excited by the fact that she will work with director Maryo J. delos Reyes for the first time. “It’s always nice to know when you’re working with the best directors in the industry,” says Lovi.

Lovi will guest in the new primetime soap, Beauty Queen, next week on GMA 7. Lovi plays the young Elizabeth Oropesa, a newly-crowned beauty queen whose dreams are shattered when she becomes a rape victim.

What’s next for Lovi? Well, she’s set to appear in the remake of Temptation Island under the direction of Chris Martinez and her own drama picture. Her third album/CD is in the works, and she’s set to appear in another high-profile TV series.
